A New Approach to Cyber Coverage
At the Risk-!n conference, Charles De la Horie from Miris discussed an innovative approach to cyber insurance that is reshaping how large corporations manage digital threats. As cyber risks evolve at an unprecedented pace, traditional insurance solutions are struggling to keep up, prompting some of Europe's largest groups to take matters into their own hands.
Born Out of a Capacity Crisis
Back in 2022, a significant capacity shortage in the cyber insurance market pushed a group of major corporations to explore an alternative path. Rather than relying solely on conventional carriers, they decided to pool their resources and create their own insurance company: Miris. Today, the mutual counts around 13 members, all of whom capitalize the company and collectively cover themselves against evolving cyber threats.
Who Are the Members?
Miris targets very large groups with a strong risk management and cyber DNA, including names such as Thales, L'Oréal, Solvay, and BASF. The mutual spans corporations across Europe, including Switzerland and the Nordic countries. What unites these organizations is their shared commitment to robust cybersecurity practices and a long-term vision for risk mitigation.
An Open Door for New Members
Miris is not a closed circle. According to De la Horie, the mutual actively welcomes new members, as additional participants bring greater risk diversification and enrich the collective through shared best practices and incident experience. Any large group seeking long-term cyber coverage and willing to contribute to this collaborative community is encouraged to reach out and explore membership.
