Europe doesn’t have a cloud problem

Europe doesn’t have a cloud problem. It has a visibility problem.

While building a very special browser extension 😉, we hit a practical constraint: we needed a Windows environment to debug… but our entire setup runs on Mac and Linux.

Instead of defaulting to the usual hyperscalers, we asked a different question:
*Can we solve this with a European, sovereign cloud, simply and affordably?*

So we tested Exoscale.

In less than a few minutes, we spun up a Windows VM, ran our tests, and shut it down. Total cost: around €0.3 for 4 hours of usage. No complexity, no long-term commitment, no heavy infrastructure.

This small experiment led to bigger reflections:

- European #sovereign #cloud is not a theoretical debate, it’s already usable today
- The gap between perception and reality is still massive
- For builders, developers, and creators, access to flexible, pay-per-use infrastructure changes the game
- And yes, for many use cases, Linux remains the more efficient long-term path

Beyond the technical test, this reinforces something we strongly believe:

In a world shaped by AI, cybersecurity risks, and geopolitical tensions, infrastructure choices are no longer neutral. They are strategic.

We’re now exploring how far we can push this:
- AI testing environments
- Lightweight dev infrastructure
- Possibly containerised workflows

And we’ll keep sharing what works (and what doesn’t).

If you’re building products, testing ideas, or just curious about European cloud alternatives — it’s absolutely worth trying for yourself.
